The best game
your child will ever play
is the one they invented
themselves
Make Your Child a Game Inventor
Is your game cabinet bursting at the seams? Do you have board games in the back corners that have become boring? Or games that are missing pieces?
Then simply create new games from the old game materials — think of it as game upcycling.
I’ll happily show you how it’s done!

Discover the world of DIY games!
Children love crafting and they love to play. So it makes perfect sense to combine these two passions.
Do-it-yourself games are a wonderful way to do this.
Creating and making something themselves is always fun for children. And when their creations don’t just gather dust on a shelf, but are actually used and played with, it’s doubly rewarding for them.
*DIY stands for ‘Do It Yourself,’ which means making things yourself, like game boards, figures, cards, etc.
“It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them.”

From the initial spark of an idea to the final stages of building and playing, participants are guided on a journey that encourages imagination, critical thinking, and collaboration.
More than just a nice pastime
Children think creatively and discover that their ideas have real value.
When a rule they invented works, they feel genuinely capable — and they are.
Maths, reading, spatial thinking — practised through play, not pressure.
Reusing old materials shows children that creativity is our greatest resource.
Side by side, building something — these are the moments they remember forever.

DIY games offer not only fun but also strengthen family bonds when you build and play together. In addition, you promote important school-relevant skills such as math, map reading, and creative thinking. Reusing materials is resource-efficient and enhances environmental awareness. Children actively participate, make decisions, and experience self-efficacy, which further develops their problem-solving skills.
“I want parents to spend their time with their children relaxed, enjoying beautiful activities — and when it’s time to learn vocabulary, please through play, not interrogation.”

About me
Hi, I’m Sandra, a mother of two and a passionate gamer.
As an early childhood educator and IT specialist, I can offer you my expertise from two worlds at Game Inventors that might not seem to fit together at first glance – yet both have a significant impact on our children’s development: pedagogy and the digital world.
I invented my first game over 30 years ago during my training as an early childhood educator in a kindergarten. We sawed, painted, glued, and crafted – and we all had an incredible amount of fun.
Since children today often play online alone or are passively entertained by TikTok, they increasingly lack important social interaction and opportunities for active engagement.
That’s why I want to promote playing games together, with real people and with tangible objects. Because laughing together, snatching points from each other, and still being able to be happy for the other players – all of this promotes the development of social skills and a sense of community.
